My Mission
Who we are
Through movement, I aim to communicate rich,
emotional stories that resonate on a deeper level.
As an artist, I use dance as a narrative tool to tell stories that words alone cannot express. I’ve always said dance is my first language. Through movement, I aim to communicate rich, emotional stories that resonate on a deeper level. My mission is to create work that invites audiences into a space of childlike wonder and imagination, encouraging them to rediscover the magic in the everyday. By engaging with whimsy and play, I offer a brief respite from the chaos of life and create a moment of reflection on what we often overlook as adults.
Storytelling is at the heart of my work. Fantasy is a constant presence, whether in a fully imagined world, through magical characters, or by elevating an ordinary space with moments of wonder. I am always asking myself, ‘Where is the magic in this moment?’ I believe that dance has the unique ability to turn the mundane into the extraordinary. My approach to choreography blends technical skill with contemporary movement, crafting imaginative pathways through classical forms. I encourage my dancers to bring their individuality into the rehearsal space, allowing their unique voices to help shape how the story unfolds through movement.
My work focuses on telling the stories of women and queer people, groups whose narratives are often reduced to their gender or sexuality in mainstream media. As a queer woman, I strive to create fully developed characters whose stories transcend these labels. I explore narratives that show women and queer people as heroes, adventurers, and complex individuals who experience the full range of human emotion. While their identities are a part of who they are, they are not the defining aspect of their journeys.
Through my work I hope to inspire kids and adults who are open to exploring the world of imagination and storytelling through dance. As adults, we can lose our sense of magic and play; I hope to rekindle it, helping them find wonder in their own lives. I want audiences to leave my work feeling transformed, having witnessed a story that connects with their own experiences or opens them to new perspectives.
Looking ahead, I am committed to continually expanding my exploration of where dance and storytelling intersect. I aim to create more narrative-driven works that center women and queer people in roles that move beyond traditional gender or sexuality-based narratives. By embracing the creative process, with all its imperfections and challenges, I will continue to push the boundaries of my art and discover new ways to tell stories through movement and imagination.
